1993 Calendar

20th Syresham Village Hall Morris danced in middle of John Braybrooke’s surprise 50th birthday barn dance which featured Thirsty Work, who were recorded during the evening.  

Jacqui made a morris and train cake.

Did new dance called ‘Braybrooke’s Downfall’.
23rd Greyhound, Milton Melsor 9 Morris sides, Nigel’s first dance out.
29th The Royal Oak at Eydon. (outdoor practice)
1st May Day at Brackley Market Place, Croughton, Farthinghoe, Marston St Lawrence. We push in and get on Anglia TV and in the Banbury Guardian!

Sue – “First time for many years it’s light and rosy when we set off, warm and sunny after sunrise. Champagne breakfast. The day was eternal.”
2nd Eydon High Street For ‘Wheels of Hope’, an Oxford to Eydon charity cycle ride  finale.   As the Royal Oak itself was still closed for renovation, an 'off licence' was set up in the bus shelter.
6th The Old Coach House at Ashby St. Ledgers. Thursday night dance out
8th Historic Dance Day at Sulgrave Manor  with Kirtlington and Hollow Oak (Canada).

Sue – “Danced at 12 and 1pm. It was absolutely freezing and windy with no audience but the Administrator liked it and paid up.”
13th Maltster's Arms and The Windmill at Badby  
27th The Plough at Upper Boddington.  
29th Braunston Boat Show Two pm spots.
Sue – “Made the group pose for a pic which Jacqui will rush off and develop.
Met Heyford Morris for first time.  We all went back to Pete & Lin’s, had a brilliant time.”    Cracking photos from Sue & Kev's friend Mel
3rd - 6th Hennef, Germany Banbury 'twinning' exchange' with the town of Hennef (Siege), Germany.
6th A Service Station somewhere in Belgium  (how romantic)..Includes a scratch side dancing Shepherd's Hey made up entirely of 6 members of the Lodge family - sadly unrecorded.
10th The Butcher’s Arms at Farnborough. Drank en masse from our Hennef tankard.
12th Whitfield Morris danced at barn dance.
17th Red Lion at Northend  Pub put on a barbecue.
24th The Coach and Horses at Daventry. Sue – “Thought it was going to be awful as jazz was due to start [in the Stable bar] at the same time but turned out to be well-received, atmospheric courtyard.

26th Byfield Village fete Sue – “Followed by a Thirsty Work ceilidh at Whitfield.  Ceilidh was in awful venue, a barn with 4 light bulbs, a metal stage and great girders poking out of the floor. Buffet took about 2 hours to get over and the sound balance was bad.”
1st The Red Lion at Warmington.  
2nd - 4th 3rd Morris in the Forrest, Llanwrtyd Wells. No Royal Oak side this year as the band have a booking, so just Kev, Sue and Pat E go.  Sue remembers:
“ Brilliant ceilidh Friday but so many biting midges in the hall. Music / constricted dancing in the NeuadJd Arms.
Sat – Procession. Ceilidh with Caravanserai, difference dances from Eastern Europe/ Greece.
Sun – dance outside Neuadd Arms, joined in 2 Lichfield dances with Knighton Morris.”
8th The Kings Head at Farthingstone. Paul remembers "Macho Misgivings Group of macho Aussie male cricketers in audience didn't like holding hands in social dance"
10th Old peoples' home at Wardington Just finished dancing when heavens opened.
15th The Red Lion at Evenley  with Aynho Apricots.
18th 'Transpo' at Woodford Halse. Dancing on rough grass again!  Thirsty Work played for showmen at barn dance in bar tent afterwards, but they were all too knackered to dance.
22nd  The Brazenose, The Red Lion and the canal wharf at Cropredy.  
29th  The Marston Inn at Marston St Lawrence.   
31st  The Dunn Cow at Daventry and then 2 South Place. Lin and Pete's Wedding, Morris Stick Arch for Newlyweds

9th Byfield Harvest Supper, Byfield village hall.

4th Sulgrave Manor, Winter Wassail Festival. fWith The Green Man, Tree Dressing, Mummers (from Geddington!!!!) and Morris dancers - us!
26th Boxing Day tour with Mummers?? Toured with Eydon Mummers, Old House at Home, Moreton Pinkney then Royal Oak, Eydon.
