1st |
May Day celebrations, Brackley Market Place, 5.30 am |
Richard’s first day as Squire went off very well. Long day – Brackley, Weston, Abthorpe and Greens Norton for lunch! With Brackley, Aynho Apricots and Northampton. (Good sausages!) |
4th |
The Coach & Horses Daventry then Daventry High Street. |
With Elephant up a Pole (who got lost and were an hour late) and then on to a massive curry at Popadoms. Dancing in High St at 9 o’clock produced an audience, including many India waiters who did this sort of stuff back home. |
11th |
The Avon at Avon Dassett |
With Hereburgh Morris, who had 7 new members dancing out – and very well too! Finish with a mass, 3 team, ‘Vandals’. |
18th |
The Plough, Everdon |
Very windy, but Everdon did us proud with an audience all the way through! The pub failed us as they ran out of beer, so we had to rush over to the Windmill at Badby for a last pint. |
25th |
The Swan at Milton Keynes Village |
Good fine night with Old Mother Redcaps, Stony Steppers and Shore Tars Rapper. |
June |
6th |
George & Dragon, Chacombe |
Dancing with Brackley Morris. Pat C dances the Clogs and the pub provides a vegetable curry afterwards. Pity the beers weren’t up to much! |
9th - 11th |
Wimborne Folk Festival |
Cracking weather and a good weekend. As usual we manage to lose people in supermarkets, in this case Kevin L and David B! |
15th |
Royal Oak; Eydon |
With Adderbury Morris |
17th |
Byfield Fete, |
They remembered to pay us this time for 2, 15 minute, spots. And we deserved it as it was very very hot. So hot that the colour of Pat C's face was remarked upon in the Parish Magazine. Another fine decisive outing for Squire Tidmarsh. |
21st |
The Olde Sun, Nether Heyford |
With Rose & Castle Morris. |
22nd |
The White Hart, Sherington |
Another pleasent night, with Caddington Blues and Bedfordshire Lace. |
24th |
Towcester Music Festival |
In the Market Place with a good audience. We danced well, even when the Milton Keynes Pipe Band decided to play on the same spot. |
25th |
Bloxham Steam Rally |
Huge Rally spread over several fields, we were lost outside the Beer Tent dancing on rough grass. |
29th |
Red Lion, Evenley |
With Aynho Apricots & Jabberwocky. A good evening; even if Kevin L got blown over by a slight breeze. |
July |
1st |
St Albans Festival |
Where David B walked off with someone’s melodeon and David T and Pat C ‘collected’ the sticking in a circle from New Esperance Morris. |
6th |
Blue Lias at Stockwell |
Bit a a dull night as everybody went home early after the dance. |
8th |
Crockwell Farm, Eydon |
Dancing at wedding and got the 2 best men(?) up dancing ‘Room for the Cuckolds’ – quite well really. |
13th |
Carpenter’s Arms, Lower Boddington |
Pretty rough dancing in front of a mainly young audience |
15th |
Sulgrave, 21st Birthday party then at the Star |
A fine example of how the other half live led onto PC discussions on dress sense, and the apparent non-effects of gravity. Good pig though! |
20th |
Globe at Long Street, Hanslope |
Quiet dance at back of pub to party of Americans. One lady joins in. |
22nd |
Ducklington Day of Dance |
Who could forget the ‘Wet Tee Shirt Morris’ performed by Windsor Morris, or indeed Stoney Stratford’s Resurrection in the rain (or Old Mother Redcaps 'Umberella Dance' or Brighton Morris or Pat (Status Quo) Eaton’s last comeback tour. |
23rd |
Tadmarton |
Garden Party/fete for the Red Cross. Exhaustion sets in as 6 dancers perform on grass for third time in four days. They did like us though. |
August |
1st |
Eastcote |
With Queens Oak. Excellent evening! There were only five dancers which put us on our mettle so the dancing, in the circumstances, was really good. |
4th – 6th |
Morris up a Mountain |
Walked over the top westwards up and down dale to the Tafarn Dwynant (Two Waters) pub at Ceinws for lunch and then danced on the quayside at Aberdyfi in the evening. On Sunday we went to Dinas Mawddy and danced first at the Meirion Mill and then at the Llew Coch (Red Lion) pub at lunchtime. |
September |
3rd |
Wallingford Bunkfest |
We danced well, which surprised us as we hadn’t met for 4 weeks! A stormy weekend; but ok on the day. Lin dances with Outside Capering Crew and Berkshire Bedlams. Big curry night. |
